Taiwan is voting on their next president and legislature right now and I am on pins and needles! We will know the results by tomorrow morning and I will have much more to share.
For now, some recommendations to prepare yourself for what’s to come:
1) this latest Substack post by my friend, Michelle Kuo, who is in our film and in Taiwan possibly voting as I write (!):
2) Josh Chin and Joyu Wang for the Wall Street Journal reporting from Taiwan: China Confronts a New Political Reality in Taiwan: No Friends: Interviews with top candidates in volatile three-way presidential race point to rising skepticism toward Beijing—whatever the outcome
3) Another brilliant, friend in Taiwan, Emily Y. Wu, founder of Ghost Island Media in interview with Ben Rhodes in the last 20 minutes of his latest Episode 380 of Pod Save the World.
4) Emily Y. Wu’s new podcast series The Taiwan Dispatch, episode 1. Dispatch from Taiwan, a 5-episode special on Taiwan current affairs and pressing challenges. Produced in collaboration with U.S. Institute of Peace. This is Ghost Island Media’s 15th program. Emily discusses “Defense — Rising Awareness and Preparation” and concludes with thoughts on the presidential election — happening right now!
4) this Radio Taiwan International (RTI) interview I did with Sharon Lin when in Taiwan that just dropped:
